Hi all, we have seen a house we like in High Garrett Braintree but havent a clue about the area, we have a 6yr, 5yr & 2yr old children & my hubby works at Liverpool Street London. We currently live in Thurrock & kids go school in Upminster which is lovely but we are now wanting to move out & get away from the dartford bridge traffic etc. Would love chelmsford but the price of what we want is too highly xx

Hi, I know the area quite well. I think it's a nice area but what I like you might not. One thing I would look into is the trains from braintree to Liverpool Street they're not very regular.

I'd say go for a couple of hours, walk around and see what you think

murphyslaws Thu 26-May-16 13:10:21

I don't think it's that nice. It has a big town street view it. But generally it's not great.

What's your budget and what are you looking for? Bedrooms etc

Maldon Road, Stanway, COLCHESTER, Essex

Colchester is lovely but I'm going further & further out, our family lives in Upminster & kent so don't want to go too far but far still far enough if you know what I mean 😁 It's so hard .. 🙈

Clooki Thu 26-May-16 13:48:23

Don't mind but must be close to station & schools no more than 5min drive

LocalEditorEssex Thu 26-May-16 13:49:01

High Garrett is not really Braintree.
I am in Halstead and it is about a 5 min drive from here.
High Garrett is more Gosfield, which is a lovely area imo.

Oh it's quicker train from kelvedon then Braintree, that will please my hubby. I may view thous as hoping to look at lots this Saturday x

LocalEditorEssex Thu 26-May-16 13:52:40

I would suggest Coggeshall then if Kelevdon station is ideal.

Clooki Thu 26-May-16 13:57:08

It's so hard, we have made our minds up on the move but it's differcult finding the right area as its a long term family home & I'd hate to move to an area that's not that great & feel unsettled. Also our home is sold & buyers are putting pressure on us to find somewhere! 😱 X

murphyslaws Thu 26-May-16 13:57:15

Coggeshall is beautiful I would love to live there. Houses, schools, country living

Clooki Thu 26-May-16 13:59:59

Near station with quickest time to London, nice schools & local amenities is our main priority

murphyslaws Thu 26-May-16 14:01:53

Kelvedon has a few shops and station. Schools etc.

Street view kelvedon high street

Clooki Thu 26-May-16 14:02:02

Maybe you could do a tour of the area at the weekend? Visit some places and see what you think.

I'm sure you could get something nice in chelmsford for that price but it wouldn't be as big with as much outdoor space if you went further afield

fortifiedwithtea Thu 26-May-16 14:03:41

There are houses in Chelmsford in your budget. I don't know how to do the link but for £625K you get a 4 bed in Chelmerton Ave (very naice road) massive garden. I know the area well as I live 20 minutes walk away.

I love Chelmsford, wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

Two of my children attend the secondary school in Coggeshall. smile
