Howdens Burford Kitchen – Grey or Stone?

Hello

I think this has been asked before but I am super confused and need some input please.

We are mid extension which will comprise of an open plan kitchen/diner/family room.
I need to order the kitchen in the next week or so and can’t decide on colour. We are going for Howden’s Burford and the decision is between either grey or stone (I think).

I like the grey but it is more of a green-grey so I am leaning towards stone. Do any of you have this colour? Do you like it? The pictures look lovely in the brochure but I haven’t seen a full kitchen using this in RL. What colour do you have on your walls?

Worktops is another issue – we don’t want oak or laminate and can’t afford corian. Do any of you have tristone? What colour would you go for with either the Burford grey or stone?

Sorry for all the questions. I have been waiting for this kitchen for almost 10 years now and I am terrified of getting it wrong. DH has said it’s all up to me…which is lovely but not helpful when I can’t decide on anything!

We have done this at a house with the grey and white corian work tops. Looked lovely. It has a slight green tone but I loved it. For the walls we did something very neutral which worked well. I put the kitchen in to sell the house and everyone commented how lovely the kitchen was and it sold in a couple of days.

Hi, I think our kitchen is Howdens Burford in grey - we've just moved in and forgot to ask the previous owner where it was from. Here are some pictures if it helps. We're changing the floor to a light coloured engineered wood and there will be lots of colour elsewhere in the room from the kitchen table and dresser, rug, pictures etc so will prob leave the walls white.

By the by - don't suppose you're up north are you? There's a howdens trade place at Hull which is about half price.... Anyone can go.

Thanks all, that's really helpful.

tax your kitchen looks lovely, do you know what the worktop is?
I think we are going for kardean throughout the space in a warm wood style.

Pootles we're Midlands so Hull is an option. Thanks for the tip!

I'm not sure, it's very smooth and feels nice but unfortunately stains if something gets left on there e.g. coffee ring from a mug. No doubt there is a product to clean it but haven't looked yet!

Might avoid white then!

Burford Grey with dark grey metro tile splash back and oak work tops here. ceramic sable Amtico floor. Absolutely love it. Oak work tops require care, but I just love them. Walls are bright white.

I've just put in Howdens Clerkenwell in Stone into a rental property. It's a lovely colour and is apparently selling like hot cakes. I do think that the colour will date though and so wouldn't put it into a house where I'd be using it for 20 + years.

The grey is very green IMO but more classic.

I went with stone as the grey was very green. Neither of them is a cool colour. The stone I'd describe as "putty". My kitchen cabinets and handles (my own - not howdens) match but the tiles don't in my opinion as they are 'cool'. Ho hum. It's what happens when making decisions to have the kitchen done by Christmas.

Here's another pic. I've got engineered oak floor and white quartz worktops (barkeepers friend is your friend). I'm impressed with howdens quality and the builder loved it too. It's my second howdens kitchen.

jaffyjiffy that looks really nice. Are you pleased with the quality / size? I read on another thread that Howdens cupboards can be quite small?

I did a bit of research on my lunchbreak and have ordered some door samples from DIY kitchens. They have a number of true grey shaker kitchens. I don’t think I want to settle for the ‘green-grey’ Howden’s do just because it’s the easier option.

Thanks Lurking and Zampa.

I wish I could afford a designer to come in and tell me what to do!

I got my home kitchen designed and installed by a small independent shop in the North West. Fractionally more expensive than Magnet and much much better quality. Don't discount doing that.

Howdens here when I moved in. I would not recommend the white worktop as it stains constantly.
It comes off with bleach but looks messy. This is just a few tea drips and water marks over one day.

Have a look at Benchmarx or Wickes for grey - just had ours done - solid oak worktops tho . Nearly went for Kashmir white granite but held off .
