Windows dilemma, what to choose..help!

Moving to a new house soon, and most Windows ( but not all) need replacing. Have had a company in to give us a quote, and now have prices for a) bog standard upvc b) fancier upvc with wood grain effect and lovely casement openings or c) residence 9 Windows, that looks so much like wood they might as well be, and come in lovely colours.
The house itself is not beautiful, it's a 1960s thing, with a mixture of brick, tile hung, wood clad and rendered finishes on the outside. Sounds grimmer on screen, it's ok...and we can do stuff to make it prettier.
But would the most expensive Windows be mutton dressed as lamb? Is it possible to put in Windows that are too posh for a house, or will it always look better? Don't really have the budget for the pricier ones but hope to be living there for a looooong time so don't want to regret the choice.
Help!

Do you have any photos? The second option sounds a good compromise from the way you've described them.

I just saw a house with green upvc windows and thought they looked really good.

Yes, I think you can put too posh windows in. I contemplated Residence 9 when I changed my windows. They are gorgeous windows but were too high spec for my modest little house (which is surrounded by the same or similar houses, almost all with standard white pvc windows).

No future buyer of a house like mine in this area will pay a premium for Residence 9 windows. Obviously if money is no object and you are just doing it for your own enjoyment, go for it Smile

We really liked the Residence9 but couldn't justify so went with Upvc in a similar colour - don't regret it a bit

The lads fitting said the R9 ones have some teething issues - can't remember the details though unhelpful

Thanks all! Hadn't been able to check back in here, but that does confirm what I think we will go for ( option b)!
Now just gotta choose bathroom, shower, carpet, wooden floor, light fittings....etc etc! Scary. Will be hanging around these boards a lot!
