if a builder built an extension that included a bathroom would you expect them to drill into the tiles to put mirror etc?

Our builder has built us an extension that includes a bathroom/shower/bath/toilet etc

He subcontracted the tiling to another company but we are paying him for it as he organised it, that was done last week iyswim

Now today they are coming to fit toilet, shower, wash basin and plumb in bath

We have got porcelain tiles and DH is very nervous about drilling into them, putting things like mirror, towel rails, grab rails (for me as I am disabled) and shower curtain rail?

Now is it something you guys would expect the builder plumber to do or is it for the tiling guys to come back for or would they expect us to do it?

We don't mind paying extra if all you guys think it is an extra job, is it?

Or is it what you would expect them to do?

It isn't just the plumber coming today as they have to finish a few other building type bits and bobs

Ask the plumber if they can do it for you, shouldn't take them long?

Thanks the plumber and builder are doing it atm Smile

Good thing too cos porcelain tiles are very very hard to drill into apparently so had to use a special drill bit

I think it is he builder doing the drilling while the plumber is doing the pipes etc

It is very noisy here cos they are in extension and flooring guys putting new floor upstairs in DS room, so we have drills, bangs and everything going on - luckily our Labrador is used to all the comings and goings and is in sitting room with me curled up on her rug fast asleep Smile

Good, they should know what they are doing, and if they make a mistake they can fix it!
Try and ignore the noise (I know how hard that can be) and all the dust, it'll be worth it in the end. Probably about August!Wink

Thanks Smile the builder has done a great job and is coming back to finish next week

It took him quite a long time cos of the porcelain tiles being so hard to drill into, which his boss wasn't very pleased about

It looks fantastic though Smile

Then we just need to get the walls and doors painted, one of the old original doors removed and new one in place and new flooring put in then we can finally move in properly SmileSmileSmile

They started building last August so we have been living in a building site since then along with all our stuff in cardboard boxes from when we moved in, so it will be great to finally have the house how we planned it
