Anyone want to play MN 'Escape to the Country'?

Hoping to use the wisdom and experience of MN to help find a lovely 'forever home' property for myself and DP.

We are after somewhere near the coast that we can rent out as a holiday let (doesn't have to make loads of profit, just allow us to break even on upkeep of property), and also use as our residence when we're not travelling, and as somewhere to live permanently once we settle down (i.e. retire).

Totally open to location, although would prefer the south and really love the Dorset coast and Cornwall.

Would like at least 2 bedrooms able to comfortably fit a double and two singles.

Planning to furnish the place with charity shop/antique market finds that we bring back to life ourselves, so definitely not after anything new or modern.

Ideally would love a character cottage with exposed brickwork/beams/original fireplaces/character features and a garden.

Would consider a 'project' property that needs work/restoration.

Oh yes, and the budget is ÂŁ200,000 but could stretch to ÂŁ240,00 for the right place. Thanks!

This one is close to the north Norfolk coast, so not in the southwest, but it's a very beautiful area, I think.

this looks nice.

or this is a fixer-upper (if you are into gardening)

this is interesting.

or this

or this if you fancy a complete redevelopment opportunity.

Good luck!

I love the Porthleaven one, is there an area of Cornwall you like in particular?

Oooh, and a little bit further from the coast this one has three bedrooms.

If we're really going to play Escape to the Country you're going to need to walk into a kitchen bigger than my entire flat, turn your nose up, and say how small it is. And only 2.5 acres? Couldn't possibly move anywhere with less than 4, after all, where are the grandchildren going to play when they come visiting?
