Worried that we won't find a house to buy in time.

We put our house on the market in Feb after seeing lots of properties we were interested in. It sold in a couple of weeks but unfortunately as did all the houses we wanted to view/put an offer in.

Almost a month has passed now and our buyers/solicitors are pushing us for a moving date but we can't find anything we are remotely interested in.

We're on all the local estate agents mailing lists for properties within our search criteria before they are advertised but now I'm worried that we are going to have to move into rented accommodation if we don't find anything soon.

Has anyone been in this situation before- any advice?

How important is it not to lose your sale. If it's vital I'd seriously consider renting somewhere that will 'do' put some belongings into storage and then focus on the house hunt.

I suppose its not vital if we lose the sale, but I would hate for the buyers to pull out and then we find something ideal soon after.

I'd also hate if we signed a 6 month tenancy agreement and found a house right away.

I suppose you can't win but I'd hoped things would fall into place by now!

In the scheme of things, although you'd hate it, it would be worth putting up with. It's unlikely you'd find somewhere and complete in fewer than around three months anyway.

You could also consider putting a letter through the door of any houses you like the look of, i.e. on the same streets as the houses you missed out on and asking if they are interested in selling to you. The vendors could save on agents' fees if they sold privately to you. Also let the estate agents know that if those sales agreed before you had chance to view fall through you might be interested.
