Talk to me about Westcliff on Sea

Hi

DH and I are expecting a tiny person and it's time to make the move out of London. We're looking around Leigh on Sea, which we love.

Seems like you can get more for your money in Westcliff, but I've heard mixed things about it. Any local knowledge v much appreciated. Plus points? Dodgy bits?
Thanks in advance!

Know it well. It changes road by road. Happy to help!

Thanks hour. We've got a viewing on Holland Rd tomorrow which looks to be nice and close to both sea and station. Are there any areas you'd recommend steering clear of?

I live in central Southend and my parents in Westcliff. The the houses between London Road and Fairfax drive (where my parents live) is a nightmare for parking but a lot cheaper. Chalkwell end is pricier but nice. Holland Road is lovely. Southend / Westcliff are grammar school areas so good for the brighter child, but as a result the surrounding schools all have pretty poor ratings.

Yes, Holland Road is fine. Steer clear of Station Road and be careful with any of the roads on the other side of the railway track - there are a large number of HMOs tucked away around Hamlet Court Road. Chalkwell is nice, as is Thorpe Bay and also Eastwood. Good schools in all these areas. Feel free to pm me if you want any info!

I'd give westcliff a miss and stick to chalkwell or Leigh.
