Laying gravel

Hi,

I'm just about to fix up a small patch (~1.5sqm if it matters) of the garden that's thick with bushy weeds. I plan on digging them up and putting down weed block fabric then some aggregate I have left over from other work in the garden.

I also have some sand left over from that work and need to get rid of it. Would it be foolish to put some all of it under the weed control fabric straight onto the current soil? Just wondering if it will go everywhere when it rains.
