Task lighting?

I need some reasonable lighting for my sewing area

I thought Florescent tubes but my brother says they flicker & are expensive to run

So what should I buy?

You can buy specific craft task lights which mimic daylight. Just have a Google.

They seem to be mainly lamps

I've found these which might work?

Anglepoise?

Now that they have come down in price (if you go to the right place) LED lamps are now good value and cheapest to run. They don't flicker so are safe to use with machinery including sewing machines. You can get daylight or warm white, to help you see natural or indoor colours.

use this as a guide to current prices and try to use a standard bayonet bulb as you can buy replacements anywhere. Homebase and John Lewis have good ranges of lighting. A spotlight bar means you won't be working in your own shadow, but your personal taste will drive you.

Your batten light doesn't display well on my PC but looks suitable.
