Builder recommendations in SE London anyone?

You need to go through the threads on the local SE London mums Facebook group, 'mothers little helper (MGF)'. Same question asked all the time with loads of replies and reviews.

Not suggesting mine. Did a good job, to budget. A little bit late. I paid them. Then a teething problem occurred and they told me to get lost.

Search for mother's little helper (MGF) on Facebook and request to become a member. Takes a day or two. Use full web page on laptop (not phone) to find the search bar.. It's very useful. It's actually the sister website to Mummy's Gin Fund which is the fb group for everything to do with kids in SE London. Actually, there is now also a webpage called www.mummysginfund.co.uk that also has builder recommendations on for SE London.

It's a fucking minefield. We've had a few round to look at the work and only one has actually produced a quote. Seems totally professional, keen to do the job, the EA recommended him - but we can't find any reviews online, they aren't registered with the FoMB (although are with RICS) and they only provided one referee when we asked...

The East Dulwich Forum is quite good for this. Look on the businesses and trades page but be careful to check the posting history of those making recommendations as there are a fair few fakes.

Thanks Luna - I've looked on there and got a few names. It is surprisingly easy to spot the fakes!
