If I get round to posting individual rooms in my house (preparing for sale) would anyone be interested in coming on and bluntly telling me 'that bit looks shit, tidy it or fix it' grin

CremeEggThief Sat 23-Jan-16 13:13:16

I am VERY tidy and hate too much stuff, so I will try to help, if you

kavvLar Sat 23-Jan-16 13:15:44

That is an excellent idea! I never notice my own crap until people come round, then it suddenly becomes really obvious.

Lovely. Our house is going to be sold as 'ok, you can live in it but the kitchen and bathroom is shit and you will want to replace them as the early 90's wants their stuff back'.

I will now get out the bath and get on with it.

love to! (eyes up own clutter in shame-faced fashion...)

wowfudge Sat 23-Jan-16 17:31:38

Come on OP, you must be like a prune if you're still in that bath grin.

RJnomore1 Sat 23-Jan-16 17:32:46

Ooh yeah ill help asong as I don't have to deal with my own

BasinHaircut Sat 23-Jan-16 17:33:56

I'm in. Love getting a house ready for selling!

Lulooo Sat 23-Jan-16 17:34:23

Place marking here. I love a nosey inside other people's homes and I have wanted someone to do this to mine often. I'll post what I think OP.

Damn, why didn't I think of this first!

Lulooo Sat 23-Jan-16 17:35:15

She's probably doing what I would do and now panicking and having a mad, discreet little tidy up before taking pics.

Sallyhasleftthebuilding Sat 23-Jan-16 17:44:19

Taking your own pics is always a good idea!! Surprising how things look different in photos

LaurieFairyCake Sat 23-Jan-16 17:54:15

Sorry, have not been tidying at all, just been ferrying twatting mooning lovestruck teenagers around. I'm now drinking a glass of wine. And am going straight in the back bedroom to take a photo

wowfudge Sat 23-Jan-16 17:55:23

Excellent. Hurry up.

LaurieFairyCake Sat 23-Jan-16 17:56:17

Right, room one. Spare bedroom. Idea so far to take black bags to garage, put all linens (that's the piles) into space saver bags and suck the air out.

EMS23 Sat 23-Jan-16 17:58:23

Do you actually need any of that stuff? Rather than relocating it to the garage or packaging it, can any of it be chucked/ given away?

Needaninsight Sat 23-Jan-16 17:58:38

What's on that ledge? That needs clearing too. Actually, I'd just remove the ledge grin

LaurieFairyCake Sat 23-Jan-16 17:59:41

No, it's all necessary. That giant pile of linen fell down and was inexpertly put back up.
The white unit to the left is stuffed full of linens - tablecloths, pillow cases, towels, duvet covers

LaurieFairyCake Sat 23-Jan-16 18:00:15

The black bags are Christmas decs (boxes in the bags)

LaurieFairyCake Sat 23-Jan-16 18:00:51

We are taken the shelf down, it has 40 pairs of shoes on it

Is there a bed in that room or room for a bed? You know about the tidying, but is that a folding bed to the left? If so, make up a bed in that room, even if it's only for the photos.

RJnomore1 Sat 23-Jan-16 18:01:35

Oh gosh

Right erm everything needs to go except the wardrobe and Chester draws (joke) and what you can fit neatly into them.

Get rid, it's less to move and stuff in bin bags is not being used. No it isn't. It's just not.

MisForMumNotMaid Sat 23-Jan-16 18:03:18

If you want blunt and honest...

This is your spare room. How often do you or would you ever use any of this stuff?

Having moved some excess stuff from house to house to house i speak from experience.

declutter don't just move stuff about.

Do you plan to keep the furniture? If not deal with it now and present the room as a sparsly furnished bedroom. (Is that a fold out bed i can see left of image that would do with nice bedding on).

The room is quite darkly papered/ painted. Are you up for lightening things up neutralising and giving a clean canvas?

LaurieFairyCake Sat 23-Jan-16 18:03:24

The rooms too small for anything but a single bed (we don't own one). Opposite the wardrobe and drawers is another wardrobe (with one box on it - more Christmas decs)

All the Christmas decorations must go to the garage

RJnomore1 Sat 23-Jan-16 18:03:29

Clear storage boxes then for Xmas decs. The rest needs to go. Whose shoes are the 40 shoes and how often are they worn?

That's 80 shoes for two feet.

That's each shoe worn once every six weeks if you wear one pair a day.

Get rid.
