Changing toilet seat help

Help...trying to change the toilet seat and can not figure out how to remove these brackets. I've tried pulling, pushing and prising. Nothings budging. It's a built in toilet so no access underneath. Has anyone dealt with one before? Thank you, I'm getting desperate in more ways than one😊😊

Have you tried sliding them to the side?

(And did you remove your toilet seat after reading the thread about washing the seat in the dishwasher?)

Looks like you might need to unplumb the loo to me. Some WCs are very badly designed that way.

You have to access underneath to loosen the bolts.

Can you get the old seat back on before you do it properly?

We had one that had been fixed before loo fitted. I removed the old fixing with a hacksaw (you will probably find that the bolt is plastic) so it was quite easy to saw through. The bolts just fall into the back of the loo. I was able to get a new seat fixed with expansion bolts from the top (google top fixing toilet seats). I bought my new one from here www.plumbtap.com/toilet-seats-173-c.asp and have had no problems. Customer service is good too and far cheaper than diy store.

Thanks for the help. Gave it a bray with a hammer and got them off. Had to dismantle the whole bloody thing in the end, but it's done. Now considering dishwashing the old one to keep as a spare 😁
