finding source of leak in London flat

There is a leak in the flat below mine and nobody can seem to agree on where it's coming from. Has anyone used a surveyor or other professional to really pinpoint where water is coming from? I'm desperate to try and sort this out so thanks in advance for any tips. I'm based in south / central London.

Surveyors really aren't that much help in this sort of instance, it shouldn't be too difficult to find the cause - but check your insurance will cover it.

Have you done any trace and access works? Lifted floorboards/looked behind bath panels and tiles/traced it back to soil or waste water pipes?

You don't say how it impacts your property?

If it's the flat below hers it's likely that her flat is the source, therefore the onus is on her to find and fix :)

You need to find a plumber specialised in finding the source of leaks. Insurance companies use them.

Oh OK, I hadn't considered that possibility. Then we need more info on where the leak is in relation to her flat, is it for instance under the bathroom? Because i had that problem, and it turned out the builder who installed the new shower botched it and the pipework under the unit was leaky. Cue flooded flat below, and the council turning the water off.
And second, I had leaking radiator pipes which caused big damp in 2 bedrooms. Radiator pipes fixed, no more damp in bedrooms.
OP give us a bit more info!

What is directly above the affected area in the flat below?

Hi everyone, I have the same issue in reverse, with my flat in West London. Flat downstairs has a leak which may be coming from my flat. Urgently need a plumber I assume to find out where it is coming from (and to fix the problem obviously if responsible). Any recommendations please? Thanks awfully!
