Do they photoshop a blue sky onto estate agent pictures?

I present exhibit a
Look at pictures 11 and 12. I believe that to be the same cloud, only flipped.
That and the sky hasn't looked like this in weeks.

Yeah they do. All in that self same generic shade!

NoMilkNoSugar · 26/12/2015 22:39

Drives me mad. Makes me wonder what else they have photoshopped.

Pipbin · 26/12/2015 22:45

Well quite Milk.
Just blur out that bit of damp and the missing tiles. It'll be fine.

I guess miserable grey isn't going to sell many houses.

Yes. I called a local EA on it once and got a shifty non-denial in response. Makes them look dead untrustworthy.

SomedayMyPrinceWillCome · 26/12/2015 22:50

Must have done. In pictures 2 & 3 the sky is obviously grey (through the windows)

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 26/12/2015 22:51

Photos 10 and 11 would surely have been taken within seconds of each other but the clouds are totally different so that's a bit odd. House was added on 23rd of dec so you'd think the photos were taken recently......saying that there's a few more leaves on some of the trees than Id expect for Dec.

Maybe they photoshop leaves in as well!

Unescorted · 26/12/2015 22:52

If you think they are altering the images report them to the ombudsman as it is considered mis selling. They would lose their licence if found to be true.

Pictures 11 & 12 are taken at 180 deg so you would expect them to be "flipped".

Pipbin · 26/12/2015 22:54

What do you mean with 180 degrees?

If they are taken from either end of the garden you won't have two sides of the same cloud.

EskiVodkaCranberry · 26/12/2015 22:58

Nice big garden though isn't it not the point

Pipbin · 26/12/2015 22:58

I meant pictures 10 and 11. Not 11 and 12.

10 and 11 are both pointing to the end of the garden but one is from the house with the other from 1/2 way down the garden. The same cloud is flipped in the two pictures.

Unescorted · 26/12/2015 22:58

Next time you have a blue with fluffy cloud day take pictures of the clouds from either end of your garden / street. They look like the one in your photos.

Pipbin · 26/12/2015 22:59

It is a lovely big garden. Eski
The place needs a lot of work though.

OP posts:
Pipbin · 26/12/2015 23:01

Walking half way down the garden won't flip the cloud. Clouds are huge and a long distance away. You won't see two sides of the same cloud from two different ends of your garden.

Think you are right about photoshopping how bizarre. Can't say a blue sky would make me more interested in buying a particular house (unless the blue sky was there all the time!)

Tangoandcreditcards · 27/12/2015 08:59

I know someone employed full time to photoshop EA photos. It's not just the sky.

MaisieDotes · 27/12/2015 09:04

I used to be an EA. Yes, you can click "enhance" or something on Photoshop and it will make the sky in any photo more blue.

It's most definitely not something any ombudsman would be interested in unescorted Grin

Ads are invitations to treat not offers of contract. Think about how a McDonalds burger looks in an ad.

leaningtoweroflego · 27/12/2015 09:12

"You won't see two sides of the same cloud from two different ends of your garden"

Yes exactly. That cloud would have to be actually hovering directly over the garden at like 10 feet or something to be able to photograph it from both sides like that.

Maybe it's not a cloud but a ghost Wink

SleepyKitten · 27/12/2015 09:17

Ah Pipbin, you're local to me.

I've often wondered whether they photoshop some of the pictures, and that particular EA seems to have form for it. I remember laughing at a couple of their photos when we were house hunting.

In a similar vein, but even more irritating is the photos from another local EA. We actually bought our house through them and they were fantastic, but boy do I want to shoot whoever takes their photos...

WONKY PHOTOS ARE NOT ARTY! Or Quirky. Or whatever it is that you are trying to achieve.

Exhibit B

Pipbin · 27/12/2015 09:21

Waves to Sleepy.

That cloakroom is huge! misses point

I hate those 3/4 angle pictures.
In film making that angle is called a Dutch tilt and is used to give an unsettling air to a scene.

PettsWoodParadise · 27/12/2015 09:24

This one: www.rightmove.co.uk/new-homes-for-sale/property-38633154.html they have photoshopped a front wall, birds in sky, box hedge and pavement! It was still a building site when it went on the market...admittedly they do say it is launching in January but doubt it will look anything quite like that when completed...

SleepyKitten · 27/12/2015 09:30

Ha, an unsettling air?

Maybe that explains why I'm instantly put off houses with wonky photos then. Thought it was sheer irritation, but perhaps I was wrong Grin

JennaRoss · 27/12/2015 09:32

EAs can photoshop anything that's not permanent- so blue sky, make wheelie bins disappear etc but not allowed to change anything else IIRC.

The photos are actually both facing the same direction, towards the end of the garden, but one is taken halfway down or with a zoom.

My first thought was that they'd flipped one of the photos but the light green bush halfway down is on the left in both pics.

In conclusion, I don't understand and now I am overinvested.

ThatsNotMyRabbit · 27/12/2015 10:12

Pmsl at the idea that you can take pictures of 2 sides of the same cloud from your garden! Omg and I thought I was a bit dim 😂

Timeforacatnap · 27/12/2015 11:09

Yes, they do, our photos were taken on a grey, rainy day, yet on line they appeared as a summers day! But that is all they photoshopped I hasten to add!
