Will command hooks work on crappy lathe and plaster walls?

Needing a quick fix in the bathroom before visitors descend and we have decided to throw up some pictures and beachy crap mainly to hide the state of the place to brighten the room up.

The wall is lathe and plaster and pretty much everything which has been put on it has fallen down no matter what sort of fixings have been used - the last bracket was so huge and complicated I'm sure if the wall had been strong enough I could have hung off it. But it fell down and brought a chunk of wall down with it.

I've heard great things about command hooks and how they don't damage the wall. If we're only hanging small light canvasses and assorted seaside stuff would command hooks be ok? They have to stay on the wall until Dec 31st then they can fall down.

you must identify where the wooden studs are, behind the L&P, drill into them and use a screw fixing.

p.s.

once you have found the studs, you could screw up picture rail, spanning multiple studs, and hang your stuff of that.

Ah. Bugger. I've just bought a pack of command hooks...I didn't think anyone was going to reply impatient
We really have tried everything with this bloody wall. It's all coming off at some point next year and being replaced with plasterboard or something. I just was wanting to hide all the lumps and divots where we have kept filling any holes back up...!

I'll try knocking tonight to see if i can find anything solid - am doubtful though as the wall just seems to crumble away no matter where you drill
