Bathroom retailers

Hi Mumsnet bathroom experts

We're having a new bathroom put in - I'm a bit stuck on where to get the bath/toilet/vanity etc. Don't like what Homebase/B&Q have available - happy to spend a bit but not crazy prices. We're London/Surrey borders, but happy to look at good online retailers. Any recommendations (or places to avoid like the plague?)

Also, we're quite keen to have wood or wood effect flooring - any recommendations for a hardy flooring material that's good for bathrooms?

Bloody Pinterest. I know exactly what I want the bathroom to look like, but I can't figure out how to put it together!

Who's putting the bathroom in for you? Plumbers/builders often have preferred suppliers and will get them for you. When we did our bathroom I assumed I'd have to order it all online etc but actually the builder recommended a really local family business who were brilliant and same cost if not cheaper than online.

Cheers - will ask them. It's our loft conversion company who do it (all trades in house) but they seem to want us to order. Will ask the actual guys on site though - good tip.

I spent hours researching prices a few months back to supply stuff for 4 bathrooms and ended up with this lot - great service and price. They have deals with particular suppliers themselves so can be quite good on price. I ended up inputting everything to their website and then calling them up to get them to discount further //www.ukbathroomstore.co.uk

We are getting a bathroom fitted soon. We spoke to a plumber we have used before and he recommended his trade supplier. We went to see them and ordered everything that way.

what about wood effect tiles for the flooring? www.porcelanosa.com/uk/wall-tiles/PAR-KER-wood-effect-tiles.php

We just ordered our new loft ensuite bathroom from a local independent retailer (London/Hertfordshire borders). Their prices were very competitive.

As you're London/Surrey borders, I'd suggest Burge & Gunson www.burgeandgunson.co.uk/ for your bathroom fittings. Obviously you can see all the products online, but they also have an excellent showroom and knowledgeable staff - well worth a visit so you can see it all in the flesh, so to speak!

Fru, I often drive past Burge and Gunson and wondered if they were any good. I LOVE Porcelanosa.

Burge & Gunson are very good.

You might not get 'cheap', but you will get very good quality - and, as mentioned above, knowledgeable and helpful staff.
