I need to paint ( and fill but that's another thread ) the stairwell leading up to our flat from the groundfloor .It's currently magnolia .and the walls on either side of the stairs are solid .

It's 16 stairs all carpeted ( cream carpet ) with solid walls either side and a pendant lamp at the top .There is a little natural light from the front door on the ground floor ,but our staircase is off the downstairs hall ,not directly in front of front door .

I've always dismissed F&B as waay too expensive but having seen a friend use it I can see what the fuss is about so would consider .

Any thoughts ????

We are about to paint above the dado on our stairs and hall with F&B Ammonite. We have done board and batten below the dado.

I have just redone my hall in Filing Cabinet by Fired Earth and I really like it. It's a greenish-grey.

Thanks muchly ,that's a great help .
They both ( as far as I can tell from google! ) look good .Think I'm favouring ammonite .

We don't have a dado rail and I think it's beyond my skills to create one .

Oh and of course I need to choose a colour for skirting board .

Can you add any lights? We added two wall lights along the stairs as our staircase is very dark and it makes loads of difference !

That would be the thing to do ,and it really needs an additional light at the bottom where it's dark and quite dangerous .

But ..that would be major work I think involving an electrician and ,presumably , surface mounted cable which I think would be unsightly or chasing channels in the walls .

Sigh ...need more funds !
