How would you hide this cable/lead?

The socket for the cable TV is on one side of the room and the electric socket on the other side. The fireplace (non functional, purely decorative) is on the wall in between. Sad

Currently the TV cable goes across the mantel but it looks awful. It's one of those cables that's quite stiff too so it doesn't bend down at the corners of the fireplace surround. But keeping it on the floor is ugly too because it's a white cable and black fireplace.

Moving the TV is not possible due to the layout of the room.

Any ideas?

I'd have an extra socket fitted, tbh. It'd cost around 50 quid, is that doable?

Do you mean extra cable TV socket? Wouldn't they need to use a cable for that?

An extra power socket wouldn't help because that's already on the right side where the TV is.

Could you not take it back outside, along the wall and then back in behind where your tv is now? ie extend the cable.

I am assuming that this is a cable tv box on the outside of the house and then the cable comes inside but on the wrong side of the fireplace.

An electrician could easily do this for you.

Unfortunately it's a terraced house and my neighbour's house is where the right wall would be. It's on the outside wall at the front of the property at the moment.

It's so frustrating. It's a small room with doors on two walls which means there's only really one place for the sofa and moving the TV wouldn't work.

Do you need the fireplace or could you move it to the other wall?

Is it carpet or laminate and are there floor boards?

Under the edge of the carpet and around the front of the fireplace again tucked under carpet all the way around (have to do this with our telephone extension cable)

It's a hardwood floor (not bare boards). I'm thinking maybe right around the edge of the fireplace surround and fixed down with something will be the only solution.

This stuff from screwfix. They do in black and white. Goes round floor/skirting and you could match to camouflage round fireplace.

i second what Oddity says.
We have this stuff www.screwfix.com/p/mini-trunking-38mm-x-25mm-x-2m/95463
We have it in white and you can't really see it against the skirting board.

Buy a wireless video sender which would send the signal from one side of the room to another?

Like these?

Amazon link

(When they say 8 channels, they mean wireless frequencies rather than TV channels)

Your cable providercancome and change the place of the outlet, you could paint the section that goes againt the mantle black and/or add a socket where you tv is. I must be missing something, I don't really see the issue.
