Party wall agreement

Anyone with experience of party wall agreements? We're due to start a loft conversion in September and have planning approval from council. We've talked about it with neighbours on both sides who seem happy enough.

What typically happens re party wall agreements? Our builder told us he's drop paper work round to us so we can share and get them to sign. Not had anything through yet so am chasing him.

Is there anything else I should be doing to get this moving?

Never had work on this scale done before!

I believe you need to give them eight weeks' notice before the building work starts so you should get this sorted out very soon. You can easily download forms from the internet rather than wait for the builder to drop anything round.

Agreed that you do not need to wait for the builder to drop anything around - there is loads of stuff on the internet so have a Google and find a letter template - that's what we did. You must give 2 months / 8 weeks notice otherwise you need to get the specific agreement to start before that.

Try this

We had to appoint a surveyor to draw up the award. Luckily they all agreed to use the same one.
Neighbours agreed in writing to waive the notice period once all the paperwork was done which helped.

How are things with your home now, JugglingChaotically? Hope the work was finished in time for the summer.

Thanks for asking, CharlestonChaplin.
Still not done but almost. We are at least living there again!
We need to sue the architect but it's a risk with legal fees and it has taken so many months to get things sorted. Don't want it dominating our life for longer than necessary.
DC much happier now though!
