Shutter company recommendations?

We are in Surrey - have had a few quotes over the phone, not had anyone round yet.

I'd really value any recommendations.

Also the lead times are around 12 weeks!!! Is this normal? We are moving into a house in about a month and I don't want to have to put bin bags over the windows for 2 months Grin

Standard with the lead times as almost everywhere has them made in China (probably in the same factory!). If you're handy then the DIY option will save you a fortune, we used California Shutters and they were a doddle to fit and it worked out about bang on half the price of the companies we got round to quote.

Thanks Holly will look them up. We are so not handy though unfortunately!! Think we'd have to pay a pro as not to totally mess them up….

I've just booked and put a deposit down with Riverside shutters - based on their Checkatrade reviews to be honest. I got a couple of other quotes based on measurements and they were all very similar so I just went for it! They say they have a 6-8 wk lead time. So if you can wait til then I'll let you know what they were like!

We used Surrey Blinds and Shutters and were very happy, as were friends of ours.

Mine took about 8 weeks from ordering to fitting as they were made in China to exact measurements for the windows. They are absolutely terrific and I wish I'd gas them fitted years ago instead if faffing about with vertical blinds. They keep the room cool in summer and warm in winter and provide privacy. Highly recommended.

Just in case anyone else happened to be following, we ended up going with the American Shutter Company, who get them made in Bulgaria so they'll be fitted in3-4 weeks! Samples looked good so fingers crossed it all goes smoothly Grin
