Cracks in artex!

Are cracks in artex dangerous if it's asbestos containing. No idea if it is or not but am panicking!

Asbestos in artex isn't that common - it was used in some artex mixes before (I think) the late 80s. Hairline cracks aren't a problem but if it is cracking and causing dust, it could cause a potentially very, very small risk. You can get the artex tested quite cheaply by this man.

are these cracks in large rectangles, or in particular places?

If it is not sagging, you can have it overplastered for a few £hundred per room or less, which as well as giving you a smooth ceiling will seal in any dust.

If your house is more than about 60 years old, you may have lath and plaster ceilings which by now will be losing the energy to stay up.

We got our ceilings tested. It was about £120 plus ten pounds per room. The orcas of mind it gave us was invaluable because a couple of ceilings were cracking badly.
No one can tell you if there is asbestos in them without a test really.

It's cracking in two places, long lines.
