What would £120,000 buy where you live?

We're planning to buy an investment property this summer and have £120,000 to spend. We've been looking in the area where family live but it's commuter belt and houses are snapped up. Can you inspire me with what this would buy in your area? We live abroad so no ties in terms of area.

Depends where you want to live - in the city or small town in the county?
In the city (I live in village suburb) it would buy 2 bed flat in city centre or 2-3 bed terrace or semi in outskirts. In county you could get 3 bed semi in smaller town. None would be in 'best areas' iyswim, but not in 'worst' areas either. I live in the midlands.

That would get you a nice two up two down terrace in south Manchester with a small garden. They rent out really easily too.

We live in a village between an expensive town (the closer town) and a much cheaper town.

In the expensive town £120k would buy you this.

In the cheaper town it would buy you this.

Quite a difference as you can see! In our village specifically this is the cheapest property on the market at the moment.

Nothing in my part of Wales. However, you could get a small, modern link house in Bridgend (CF31) where the rental market is strong - more tenants than stock, I'm told.

It would buy a nice terraced or semi three bed or possibly small four bed.

I don't think my three bed terrace would quite fetch that much. I live just south of Glasgow.
