Front door gloss or eggshell?

Round my way everyone seems to like eggshell but I've always been a gloss girl myself. ...until now. Does gloss withstand more weather or is it better to go for eggshell because it hides the imperfections?

Oil based gloss. Durable and easy to keep clean. I find eggshell holds dirt and handprints.

I asked this very question on here a year or two ago and the answer was gloss. I followed the advice and they were right! It's gloss all the way!

Eggshell indoors

We agonised for ages over whether or not to paint an old oak front door in an old red brick house and finally decided (with some advice from our decorator) to go for an eggshell finish that has an 8 year guarantee before it needs re-painting - surely that's got to be good - and so far so good.

Have dug out the tin from the garage to tell you what the make is - not a standard - it's Sadolin.

Looks fab - wish we'd done it sooner - long-lasting and not too shiny...
