What cooker?

We are re-doing our kitchen and I am confused what would be the best option. We currently have a gas hob and gas oven. Would an induction hob plus over the counter electric oven/gas oven work, or a range? What are the pros and cons of each? Thanks! I like to cook and bake.

We have just installed an induction hob and a double oven. We don't have mains gas so although we previously had Calor gas for cooking I hated it, so induction was the natural choice.

I much prefer a separate oven at height, rather than an undercounter oven or range. I hate the idea of bending down to just have a peek at something, or to get hot trays out of the oven. Built under ovens tend to be smaller than built in ovens, and range ovens can be awkward sizes - unless you have a very wide range you will have one okay width oven and one narrow oven. A double oven gives me flexibility - I use the little oven for grilling and just warming things up as it's more energy efficient due to its size, but for baking etc I use the big main oven.

Thank you Punny, that is really helpful to hear your reasons. Hope you're enjoying your new hob and oven!

Whatever height gas ovens cost considerably less to run. Induction is cheaper for the hob because no heat is wasted and they have timers so if you forget about something it will stop heating.

So easy to clean too.
