Loft conversion cost

My hubby and I are debating what our best plan for the future is...move to a bigger home or convert the loft in our current house. Schools aren't great in our area but primary school would be ok, so thinking we could convert and pay from savings then use equity in house to upgrade before DS goes to high school! Does anyone have any idea how much a conversion would set us back? Nothing fancy just a master bedroom with Velux and fixed staircase...

Hi, I would suggest trying to get a local builder to pop round for an approx cost. They can vary from around £20K+. It all depends on your specifications, roof pitch / type and existing roof structure to be upgraded to suit the loft conversion. In most cases loft conversions can end up costing more than extensions due to the required work to upgrading the existing roof and structural elements.
