I've the loft insulation done for free by BG. I asked them about the cables and was told they lay insulation over the top, except for the shower cable. Is this safe for cables to go under? Have yours been fitted by BG?

Same here, they just bunged it on top.

Don't see what other way they could do it, mines been fine and it was done a couple of years ago.

I'm having mine fitted free by another company (not BG) and I think its going on top. We previously had insulation but are getting damp/mould on the edges of the house due to cold spots where the insualtion doesnt quite reach the edges!! It also wasnt deep enough so we're entitled to mroe. Fair enough!

If you are talking about lighting cables, yes, they can have insulation over the top.

So he came today - Suggested a Worcester (although also does "glo worm) boiler. Copper piping, Combi boiler in kitchen (gas to come into backgarden next to kitchen) 3 radiators downstairs and 3 upstairs.

told him we were also interested in decent shower and gas hob. He said the problem with a combi is that you lose heat for the shower if people using hot water elsewhere.... so said we could keep electric shower or have a shower piped to the combi .

But was keen on a combi.... I'll see what hte quote says.

The other 2 haven't got back to me :(
