You know you don't have to use one where you live?

Ours is brilliant, but wasn't London based where we lived. We did everything via phone and email. I can recommend them, they made it very easy.

Wright & Wrights in Guildford (Julian Sampson). Goldsmith Williams in Liverpool. Roythornes in Spalding, Lincs have all been excellent for me and I was living overseas last time I bought and sold.

Roythornes are fantastic, that's who I was going to recommend.

I was at a City Law firm until recently and have just moved to Shoosmiths (a national lawfirm). They have a bulk conveyancing arm and many people speak very highly of it- not used it myself but it is an impressive set up and they have high standards.

Like previous posters have said you can be anywhere to do resi conveyancing. If you PM me I think I may be entitled to a friends and family code that I can pass on that gets a small discount. Will investigate, only been there a few weeks. I am not a spammer btw... Often post on here!

Check out any solicitors you choose with the SRA.

If my purchase had they would have realised that there was allsorts going on with their solicitors who were shut down the week we were due to exchange.

Bear in mind ID checks for anti - money laundering compliance can be a bit of a pita if you don't go local.
