Open plan or partial plan

We have planning permission for an extension to our back living room. The question is whether to retain the load bearing walls (just cut out the patio doors and windows) thus keeping it partially open plan - or knock it all out? it will be a tv and play room, once a year for xmas dinner. room will end up roughly 5.6m wide by 6.5m deep

already have eat in kitchen which is separate (and preferable this way).

I'd keep the wall (or part of it) - firstly for structural reasons, and secondly because it will feel like an open space anyway. With the patio doors and window out the two parts of the room will have separate functions so it may be a good idea to visually divide them and make them well-defined, while still being part of the same space.
You could also make the remaining wall smaller, rather than completely removing it.

I was watching Phi Spencer Secret Agent this week (I'm on ML - it's allowed!) where they had a property with a chimney breast separating a living room from a dining area.
The first thing I thought, and one of the potential buyers said when they viewed was, "I'd knock that out".

I would try and keep separate areas of living space as much as poss.

I can just see now in years to come people putting walls back in.

Is there a light source inthe original room? If so then keep some of the wall-if not and it cannot therefore be a room on its own then go the whole hog and make it one big room.
