Recommend a large gas hob please!

We are in the process of ordering a new kitchen for the house we purchased in December. We've chosen the units - painted Chalon style (without their fancy prices, lol!) as we prefer a more traditional look. The house is Victorian with an Arts & Crafts extension and the kitchen already has beamed ceiling and original parquet floor.

We are putting in a large-ish island, double Belfast sink in s.steel and want a 90-100mm approx five ring gas hob to complement the gas Aga (and built in oven we'll be re-siting) already in situ.

This is the first time we've had to buy a hob as previously we've had Rangemaster Élan 110mm range cookers (last three houses), and having scoured the net I'm feeling more and more confused so would very much appreciate recommendations from MNetters!

All I know is we prefer glossy pan rings (or whatever the correct term is, lol!) as we've had cast iron before and when you have long-haired dogs as we do, all manner of fluff seems to stick to them.....

Quite like the idea of s.steel, but keep hearing bad things about scratching - although guess we'll have same issue with the sink.

Budget is up to £1000, but a bit less would be good!

Thanks in advance x

I've got a 90mm gas on glass black 5 ring hob, with wok burner, but it does have cast iron pan stands, which do take more cleaning, but the glass actual hob is so easy to clean. Mine is Cata which i was dubious as its B& Q own make, but its been great so far- over two years and still looks new gets used daily! think it was under 200. def recomend Gas on Glass!

Thanks mrssnodge - I think we're definitely leaning towards glass rather than stainless.....in fact I'm having doubts about my choice of s.steel Belfast sink now as I can envisage our dogs jumping up and scratching the surface!

We always had traditional porcelain Belfast sinks previously (last four houses) so this will be a new venture and don't want to get it wrong.....fancy a change though whilst still keeping the look of a Belfast sink.....

Am now looking at Fisher & Paykel hobs......does anyone have any experience of these?
