Kitchen companies

I'm going to have a new kitchen for the first (and probably only) time ever, which is exciting but also daunting because I have no idea where to start - which companies are good or bad. Are Magnet any good, for example? B&Q? Ikea? You hear a lot of horror stories about new kitchens so using a company with really good, reliable and efficient customer service is as important to me as the kitchen itself... Any advice/recommendations would be gratefully received.
