Has anyone painted their DS' bedroom bright blue?

DS is nearly 5 and it's time to redecorate his room (same colours since he was born). Anyway, he is adamant that he wants it bright blue. It's quite a small room so a bit worried this will be a bit overwhelming. I have bought a Marvel Superhero Comic mural that will break up the biggest wall. Am I best to just have one wall bright blue and the rest a more subtle light blue, am thinking Dulux Mineral Mist? Or are 'feature walls' a no-no these days (have read this on MN a few times but can't see how you avoid them with certain colours and wallpapers, and surely it's about what looks good and doesn't hurt your eyes?). So has anyone incorporated a really bright blue in a bedroom and how? Thanks.

DS has a small room with a big window. It is painted a sort of turquoisey royaley blue from the B&q Colours Everywhere range (might be called Marine) and has a mural (road and vehicles scene) on one wall. It all works well. The blue you have linked to is fine, not at all overpowering.

Think it's wonderful for kids to have bright colours around them. Especially colours they've chosen themselves.

Blue blue, electric blue, is. The colour of my room, where I will live...blue, blue..

Paint it and play your son the song so he can sing along!

I have painted the children's bedrooms acid green Grin it matched one of the colours on their duvet covers so we went with that.

For me a child's bedroom is the one place that is theirs, and that they get a say in how it is decorated.

They choose a duvet cover from the short list that I have chosen, and from that we pick out the paint colours. The rest of the house is grey, duck egg blue and white, but currently ds1 has the acid green walls, with a feature wall of stripes, hand painted by me to match his duvet cover. So orange, blue and green stripes.

In all honesty when I painted the room bright green I was worried, but once the furniture and curtains were in it made a huge difference. Just go for it, you may not like it but if he does then why does it matter?

My ds room is a lovely shade of blue he chose himself, similar to Sioux Striking Cyan. I've broken it up with yellow star stickers. In the daytime it looks fab and he loves. At bedtime there is something amiss which I couldn't put my finger on. I think, despite his lamp being one of those moon yellow ones from Ikea and very warm, that the colour is just too cold to be cosy. He hasn't noticed though and still loves it.

Dulux, not Sioux!

DS2's room is Tardis blue, we all love it. DS3's room is bright bright green, it always looks bright and cheerful, although it is a dark room. DS1 (16) refuses to have his room painted, it is grey, but that is so he can write formulae and quotations on the walls.

My bedroom is bright blue and I love it. I have a white duvet with bright coloured spots and white wardrobes along one wall. I love bright colours though - my old flat had high ceilings and big sash windows and I painted one room hot pink.

Dd's room is a gorgeous bright blue (she chose it herself - she's 9). All four walls with gingham-y curtains and it's much less headachey than I feared Grin. In fact, I love it and prefer it to the idea I had of breaking it up with white or a softer shade.

You could paint white clouds onto the blue to lighten it up a bit. Then he could have a bedroom just like Andy's in Toy Story :)

Dd has one bright blue wall with a spiderweb painted on. The other walls are white and the curtains red. Very spiderman!

My son picked his own colours as he wanted a lego theme, on the white wall is a big lego stickers. I did wonder but I really like his choice.
