bathroom tile ideas - would pale grey matt wall tiles work with a white tiled floor?

We are having to re-do the wall tiles (ripped out to find source of a leak) which were plain white (i'm not a fan of just white) so I was wondering if very pale grey might look nice as a replacement?

The floor is tiled white (we cant' afford to re-do floor too) and the walls are all painted white.

Basically the pale grey tiles would be in the shower and a very small splashback section just above the (white) basin.

Have found some lovely pale grey ones with nice matt finish and as I love grey with a passion bordering on the obsessive (does anyone else feel like this about a colour??!) I would love to use them if they would work.

Alternatively how do MN gurus feel about using plain white with some pale grey as decoration? If so what is the best way to do this - a sort of border at roughly head-height...? Sorry, I'm a real decorating novice Blush

Hi Emeraldgirl2,

If your white floor tiles are 30x30 or 40x40cm then you can use light grey wall tiles that are 10H x30L or 10H x40L to line up the grout lines and great a nice modern room.

Be mindful about the natural lighting in the room when chosing the hue of grey - darker will absorb more light.

I'd probably keep backsplash as white or decor tiles and not grey tiles from shower as it looks as if you had a few extra and just wanted to use them.

On a separate note, make sure your leak has been sorted and you waterproof the shower are pre-tiling.

Best of luck!

Thank you! That is so helpful. the floor tiles are indeed 30x30 and the wall ones I like are 10x30 so I think it will work as you suggest!
Many thanks again :)
