underfloor heating under a wooden floor

We're considering putting a wet system underfloor heating under an engineered wooden floor and possibly under an amtico floor. Does this work well and any do's or don'ts to consider? Or does underfloor
only work well under tiles?

it works, just not as well, for obvious reasons. do not use glue to fix flooring

We've just been through a lengthy decision-making process of whether to use wet UFH or radiators in our rebuild. We plan to put bamboo in throughout. We decided against UFH.

One reason was that it wouldn't work as well with wooden flooring (manufacturers generally recommend max temp of 27C for the wooden floor) and we thought we might end up putting supplementary radiators in a number of rooms in case the heat output was not sufficient.

But the bigger reason was that we intend to use rugs in a number of rooms. We were told that rugs, wooden floors and UFH are not a good combination. Heat can build up in the floor under the rug with the result that the temperature at that point exceeds the limit, even if the temperature of the non-rug part is at 27C or less.

DreamboatDaddy - really useful info thanks. We will not put in certain rooms where we plan to have rugs now that I know the max temp is 27c. Simplifies our decision making too.

We have wet UFH under engineered wood, no problems at all. It's bloody lovely in winter, I wish we had it throughout the house.

We're having underfloor heating installed in our new extension. Engineered wood flooring was actually recommended to us as preferable to tiles - can't remember the reason why!

We have UFH and karndean flooring, I love it.

meant to ask if there are any issues with UFH with suspended timber floors, though we would probably insulate underneath
