Anyone in a 1930s or 1920s house with the original doors - how wide are they?

We've just salvaged some and assumed we could just replace the ones we have with these - but they are 6cms narrower Sad

What a shame Sad

Ours are 75cm/30". House is 1929, but it's one of the smaller semis of the period... That might make a difference.

Oh yours would be perfect. I would say ours is a smaller one as well so I'm surprised

Ours are all 30" - 1931 house. Bottoms of doors are all about an inch above current carpet though. (Assuming place had shag-pile at some stage.)

75cm here too, 1930 house. We did manage to replace some missing ones with salvage, but we're stuck with a couple of gaps where alterations in the 50s left 71cm spaces. I share your frustration!

1939 house. Would say ours is slightly larger than average and still 75cm doors!

What the hell were they doing in the 50s to make their doorways narrower These doors have got wallpaper on below the obligatory hardboard over the panelsShock Grin Guess we'll have to skip them

mostly 30"

however 28" and 32" are also quite common. Bigger and more expensive older houses often having bigger doors than plainer ones.

26" and 36" also listed but quite unusual

24" very unusual.

1926 house with original doors; all the downstairs doors are 32" including the front door. Upstairs is a strange mix of 28" for the loo, two at 31.5" and the rest are 32"

36"x92" here. No idea why our front door is so high.

Grin they were installing a newfangled indoor bathroom, things got complicated. Is the wallpaper nice or terrible? I love all the layers of different fashions and tastes you uncover doing up houses.

We have 28" and 30" doors depending on the room. It is so frustrating!

Ours is Victorian (so not really relevant) and downstairs doors are 32 inches.
