Laura Ashley Curtains. Any experiences ?

Hello All, I was wondering if anybody has had any experiences with buying Laura Ashley ready made curtains. I was thinking about buying some for a few rooms in my house via the internet. I have never actually seen the curtains in real life and was wondering if ever one could advise about their quality, value for money etc. The patterns I was thinking about are the Gosford, ( am considering all 3 colourways ) and the hydrangea pattern in yellow. Any thoughts/advice would be greatly welcomed.

I don't have any experience with ready made curtains from Laura Ashley but I did have some made to order blinds. Unfortunately it was probably the worst decision I Made because they were awful. The quality was extremely poor and since fitted I have had to pay someone privately twice now to have one particular blind fixed twice!! Don't do it!!

Hi
My parents in law have all Laura Ashley ready made
Curtains and they are great quality too. They are recommending I get some for my new place... Not sure on made to order as that can be quite expensive...
They always make their own if they can't find ready made they like. I planning on doing the same with help from my mum as my windows are too tall (curse of the high Victorian ceiling!)

I've had a few pairs and are generally very nice. There's often a discount on them, so make sure you get them when there's one on - I think there is at the moment.

They still use mostly natural materials, which I like - no nasty plastic header tape. The yellow (chamomile) is a pretty shade - we have it all over our living room walls and have Millwood Chamomile curtains.

I have the original purple gosford in my dining room, not as purple as the current version. I made them myself. The fabric is excellent quality from LA. And my curtains are exceptional quality! Grin

Hang on before you buy from Laura Ashley. I have a wonderful lady who has a small shop local to me who specialises in making curtains and blinds specifically using LA fabrics.
She's brilliant.

I paid nearly two grand for my made to measure LA Heligan curtains for my sitting room as I had no knowledge of her at the time. They are heavy and wonderfully made but would have been literally about half the price from her.

She's currently making my bathroom blind, £345 from LA, £154 from her.

I'm very happy with her.

If you would like her details, I'll happily give them you (in bed at the mo! :) )

She has a little Shop in Buxton, Derbyshire but is also on e bay and is happy to chat to you on the phone too.

LA made to measure is pricey, btw, but ready-mades tend to work out cheaper than buying the same fabric, plus lining and header tape and doing it yourself. Plus, if your windows are even slightly wide, you can avoid the seam in the middle, as there's not a great deal of width in the LA fabrics off the roll.

Thanks for all your advice re the curtains.
I have decided to order them tonight over the internet as there is a 30% off offer on which finishes tomorrow.
I,m definitely ordering the ready made curtains, not made to measure, but although I don,t live near Buxton, I have a good friend who does actually live there . I think I will ask her to have a look at the shop there for me, for future projects. Really appreciate the info. Many thanks

Yup, we have ready made in our bedroom (bought by the previous owner) and made to measure ones in my DD's one. Both are well made and I would certainly recommend.

Could you give the name of the shop in Buxton that does the made to measure Laura Ashley curtains?
Thanks

Definitely don't. There are services on ebay or locally that will make the same curtains, with the same fabric, for a fraction of the cost. I have a pair of absolutely beautiful handmade curtains in a LA fabric that cost around half of what the shop quoted. It's hard to believe they could be better made. I found the woman who did it on ebay, and sadly I can't remember her details.

Ooops, apologies, just realised you're talking about readymade, not made to measure Blush

I have some ready made Laura Ashley curtains, and some made to order specially to fit a massive window. They are both really brilliant. The made to order were beautifully done and the ready made were incredibly good value for the quality. The only drawback is they just won't bloody date! the designs are pretty timeless, they still look fresh and haven't faded. I fancy a change but can't justify one.

I have some made to measure and some ready made. The quality of the made to measure is really good and they were a cancelled order so I paid less than 10% of the full price.

FlatCapAndAWhippet I’m desperate for details of your curtain maker in Buxton. Realise this is an old post but it hit the nail right on the head for me.

Me & my friend have both had LA curtains & blinds for years & they've all lasted very well. I'm very happy with the quality. My bathroom blind has been up for 20yrs now Shock & still looks perfect.
