Decking - getting ready for summer

Our decking is looking 'tired' and in desperate need of a makeover. I used a water-based stain on it last year but it looks patchy and weathered already.

I was thinking of cleaning it with either a water-jet patio cleaner or a specialist decking cleaner? Any thoughts?

The next step needs to be an oil-based product which will I assume, be more durable.

If you could offer any advice, I'd be very grateful.

TIA.

No help am afraid. I need to sort our decking out too. Do I just sweep it, sand it a bit then stick on decking stain? Have no idea.

Let's hope some kind person comes along to help us both!

We had a guy in last year who jet washed the whole decking, left it to dry out over a few days then came back and oiled it. Its quite a large area and it cost £200.

Every year we jet wash ours. Leave to dry for a few days and then oil it.

New houses decking isn't looking good so we will jet wash, dry, maybe stain if necessary and then a good few coats of oil.

Does the jet wash remove all the previously-applied stain?
