Is there such thing as a nice subtle pink?

That will still be recognised as "pink" by a three year old??

I'm not the most adventurous with colour - the rest of our house is mostly F&B James White, a bit of F&B Pale Hound, and I've just painted DS's room with Dulux Timeless Classics in Old Map.

I can't do wall paper! Blush

Any suggestions for a pretty pink-ish colour for DD's room please Smile

online is not very clear (it looks darker) in real life it is a really really light shell pink.

Blossom White. A soft, feminine, chalky pink. Very pale, but recognisably pink.

If you would like to use F & B paint, then Middleton Pink, Pink Ground or Calamine might be worth looking at. You mentioned Dulux Timeless Classics, and there is a colour called Love Note in that range, which also might be suitable ( to my eyes its quite similar to the F & B Calamine ). Someone also mentioned Dulux Blossom White, which is very pretty too. To me it looks like a slightly paler version of the F & B Middleton Pink.

Was just wondering what colour the Dulux Timeless Classics Antique Map turned out like ? I have heard it,s a pale green but never seen it in real life.

Right, I'm back - many thanks everyone Smile

Dulux Spring Rose is maybe a little too lilac/mauve to my eye.

Out of the F&B pale pinks I prefer Calamine and I can see it is similar to Dulux Timeless Classics Love Note (WGH you are EXTREMELY helpful on paint, thank you so much - I find it sooo hard looking at the charts!). So Love Note is a contender!

However, I think my pink loving three year old would really love the Dulux Blossom White - it looks very pretty. Hmmmm.

WGH The Antique Map was an extremely lucky guess on my part - I wanted a fresh spring-like green for my 1 year old boy's room...I was under pressure (from DH!) in B&Q and just grabbed it thinking it was a greeny-white kind of along the right lines but it looked much more yellowy on the tin than it turned out - it's actually a perfect fresh looking light green. It has a lovely F&B like chalky finish too. I got it to go with white painted wood furniture and this bedding.

OP I would get a tester of the Spring Rose as it nothing like the shade showing on my laptop. It looked the right shade if slightly darker on my monitor at work today, however looking on my laptop now you are right, it does look lilac. In the flesh it is a very very soft pale rose pink.

OP can I ask what Pale Hound looks like in real life? I have a tester of it and am thinking of using it in our kitchen when we move house - am aiming for a soft retro yellow colour. (also we have a hound, which pathetically swayed me to try it)

Dulux Blossom White, pale rose pink, not barbie-ish, or sweetie pink, chalky finish. Looks lovely with white furniture/bedding.

LoveVintage - I love Pale Hound, I used it in my kitchen and it looks fab. My DM (who's an artist so a good eye for colour) recommended it to me... just looked at it on the F&B website, I'd say that in my kitchen it looks less yellow than that, it has some green in there too I think. It also changes a lot in different lights.

Heels ok thanks. I might try testers of Spring Rose and Blossom White then.

carly thanks - I had forgotten about Laura Ashley, will have a look.

Parietal Oh God, blue walls would be even more of a minefield!! What blue did you use just to be nosey Grin

More thoughts on Pale Hound....perhaps it's a kind of bile colour, if that doesn't sound too gross!

After a trial if B&Q's "pink pink" i hastily repainted my girls rooms with dulux Blossom White they are both thrilled with their pink rooms. Its a lovely soft pink whereas everything else I looked at was too much!

Little dd has hers with the mothercare Daisy Lane range and older DD has hers with bright fushia accessories and both work brilliantly.

Fired earth have some nice pinks in the Kevin McLeod range. I used rose mallow in a bathroom once. Really pretty. There was also one I used before it which was a slightly more lilac pink also really nice but can't remember the name.

Johnstones iced petal. It is cheap but great quality paint. They stock it in the range.

we used Blossom White in the hall, and I repainted it as it was too pink for what I wanted there, but would probably be perfect as a subtle pink for a girls room.
