Replacing a patio door with a window.

We have a ground floor flat we rent out. The bedroom at the back has sliding patio doors which are getting on a bit and have always been a damp/condensation issue. (Mostly as tenants don't like to open them!) there is a bit of owned space out the back but the layout of the flats mean that its not private. We have been thinking about taking out the patio door and bricking up a bit so we can have a upvc window installed.

Anyone have any idea of what the cost might be?

I have no idea of cost sorry, but are you saying you will lose access to outside if you brick it up or is there another way to access outside? If not I wouldn't lose the door, outside space even communal is so nice to have.

Hi, there will still be access to outside from round the building but its a tiny patio area which doesn't get any sun. We have put some pots out to mark its perimeter as belonging to the flat but because of the view from the other flats, its not really usable as a sitting out area (especially coming off the main bedroom). So there's nothing really to be lost there.

The front of the flat ( its ground floor with its own front door ) has a bit of a plot and is a real sun trap however and its quite secluded and a nice place to sit for a cuppa.

Another bump for you as my reply was not helpful at all! (But glad to hear there is outside space Smile)
