Repointing our garden slabs myself....

I just posted this earlier in gardening but perhaps this is the place for it, so apologies for duplicating....

Our paving was laid about 8 years ago and desperately needs repointing and some slabs re laying totally. Am I mad to think I could do it by myself? I have access to a pressure washer which I thought I would use initially to clean the slabs and get rid of the loose cement and weeds which have shot through.

dh does it every year (we have around 150 square metres running down the side of the garden so there is always somewhere that needs doing) - doesn't seem to be too arduous a task though. Easier with the dry cement which you pour in-between the slabs then hose it all to wet it and it sets.

You could definitely do this yourself if you take your time. With the ones that need re-laying, they will be about 20x heavier than you imagine. Engage core and bend your knees! Also, get some advice from someone you trust, re the right mix to lay them in. I did a 50 slab patio as the unskilled helper to my father-in-law, and it was do-able but hard work.

you can get a pointing tool like a giant cake icing squirter, they are said to do a good job, and they force the mortar deep into the joint, which is otherwise very difficult.

Easypoint, maybe? some name like that.
