I am going to decorate a fairly dark (south facing) living room and have no idea which colours to go for. The sofa and chair are emerald green, the room has a large cream coloured stove on a low plinth on the north wall and a radiator under the window, but apart from that, the room is rectangular and boring.
A new 3 piece suite is out of the question, covering it would be difficult as it is leather and the seats slot together (to make a large semi circle.)
Which colours would contrast with such a vivid green?
Let the green be the feature in the room with maybe some bright jewel colour cushions ie fuchsia, peacock blue etc and maybe a rug along those lines too. Also a lovely mirror and accent lighting but don't over clutter the room, keep it simple and bright.
The walls will be painted with washable matt emulsion, I was unsure whether to go for a very pale green, pale goldishy cream or something else. I spend ages choosing a colour but always go back to magnolia in the end. I love the idea of a tiny bit of peacock blue or fuchsia.
Would a large golden sunburst type mirror above the fireplace look naff?
