New sash and casement windows in Bromley?

We are getting quotes in to replace all of our sash and casement windows, French doors and exterior doors on our victorian house. Lots of leaded coloured glass to factor in and bump up the cost! We have a pricey quote from the original box sash window company. Any other recommendations please?

my DH is in restoration do you actually need to replace? most victorian sash and cash windows can be repaired, we are other end of the country in Scotland so no advice re companies

Dh would only advise replacing unrepairable windows etc, if your exterior doors are badly damaged you could try architectural salvage yards as they normally have 100's of old doors but do take measurements of doors with you as victorian doors did not come in standard sizes

Our frames are rotting or rotten and the windows and doors are super draughty. We are looking to double glaze in timber frames. Quotes for the type of restoration we would need are not that much cheaper than price indications to replace. I just don't know where else is reputable and able to do a job of this size (whole house).

Hi, my dh runs a Joinery (based in Kent) that specialise in windows and doors, I can point you in his direction. Rather oddly the last photos on his company's Facebook page are of a house in Bromley!

Thanks for the personal recommendation! I have filled out the contact us form on your DH's website. Very impressive looking, btw.

I am quite near you and have recently used Greenwich Joinery (they do all of SE London and Kent, not just Greenwich Grin ) - they did a great job.
Hope MNHQ doesn't mind me recommending them.

is your house listed because some are very fussy and insist on replacements also being single glazed, if in conservation area should be fine

I have just had 4 wooden sash windows done with slimlite double glazing by Joinery Workshop. I had loads of companies around to quote and as well as being the cheapest, I preferred them. They were the last company I contacted following a recommendation on here.

No, our house is not listed. We can do what we want, but we want to preserve its character. We have some leaded lights (what I always called stained glass, but I understand that is not the correct term) which we want to either keep so that they are incorporated within the double glazing units, or for them to be replicated so that the colours and design are the same. This adds to the mix.

Thank you for both joinery recommendations. I will look into them.

Hi, has anyone had slimlite panels installed in their windows. We are planning to do the same and I would be interested in some feedback from you about how these panels are faring yrs down the line? Internet discussions talk about early break down in the installations and early problems with condensation.
Would be most grateful for feedback. Thanks

Have you tried Ventrolla? They did a fab restoration job for us.

My casements have already been restored. The joiners are now giving me a choice between installing standard double glazed panels or SlimLite double glazed panels. i am unsure about the long term performance of SlimLite DG panels and hence am looking for some tried and tested references.
