How much were yours and what do you think of them?

about £2k for 2.1m wide three panel doors from FoldingSlidindDoor company -the handles keep snaping off -on the fourth one - and have had to pay for all of them ?! £25 + p and p !!! each time ! installed by idiots ( local people not included in price ) never been able to open just one door - waste of money ! an expensive big window !

Ours were about £3000 I think. Five panels across, from a company called kloeber who fitted them (installation was
Included). They are brilliant and I love them!

£1400 for 2.4m, three panel engineered softwood in white. I love them a lot, the single door opens fine but I did have to pay the builders to fit them about £400 if I remember. I don't think they'll last ages, but they have a ten year guarantee. Our thinking was to get something attractive and cheap in and replace with aluminium in five years or so (which I think looks amazing).

We had some but never used them (just kept the space open all the time); pointless expense.

We have aluminium ones from Sunfold. They are 3 panel (one of which can be used as a normal door) that spans 3.3m wide by 2m high. They are great but were very expensive including installation and special glass it came to 6k :O

condensation on new aluminum bi folds
we have had these fitted and every night they get really bad condensation on the frames. we have been told that it is because the plaster is drying out around them. anyone else had this problem

Not bifolds but in my last place there were big alu doors and windows and the condensation collected on the frames - think it is because it was the coldest bit.

We have two sets, both 3.5m wide, from kloeber. 8k inc installation for both. Brilliant company, would highly recommend.

It depends also how high they are - ours are nearly 3m high - we have sliding doors not bifolds- more glasses and less verticals.

Sorry, just to add, we love them! Ours are triple glazed and we've never had condensation problems.

Are all these above external bi folds or internal? Sorry to hijack op but we are currently looking at internal bifold or sliding doors - any experiences?

Hi just to add, we also had condensation when the plaster was drying, I think we had such an expanse of plaster, it produced a lot of moisture. Been months now since plaster dried and no problem since. So don't worry!

Wowfudge we have been looking st sliding doors as well and our builder friend says he can build a sort of cavity wall where the sliding doors can disappear into when they are open? I have no idea about them but that sounds awesome!

Newwave - They are called "pocket doors" if you google you will see lots of ideas - i have one into my pantry- the door sits in the wall - like the meat in a sandwich

Ours cost £800 but that's because DH worked for the manufacturer and they were a cancelled order that had been sitting in the warehouse for 18 months. Cost would have been around 8k fitted new. They are black aluminium 6 panels wide and very tall. We had a kitchen extension built with a vaulted ceiling to fit them in probably more suited to the mansion they were designed for and not a 3 bed semi They look stunning and I do love them but a BIG but .... in all honesty if I'd paid 8k for them I would be dissapointed. The black aluminium on the outside has faded, the height of the ceiling means that kitchen is always bloody freezing and I'm forever cleaning them

Ours are 4m wide, 2.2m high and cost &2700 + vat. They're in anthracite grey and look fab! We have the built in blinds which are brilliant for keeping the glare out on sunny days and for privacy if needed. And no dusting either (the best reason of all to have them ). We weren't going to get blinds but our neighbour said they are a must and he was right. The windows are
South facing and on a sunny day the room becomes incredibly hot and the sun makes it hard to watch TV so the blinds are a godsend. Definitely worth considering them

We are getting some in Jan. I went to grand designs show to look at them and have had quotes from Id systems, express and schuco. The quotes ranged from £2.5k - £4. I have also looked at friends etc. We are going with schuco. Not the cheapest but German engineered and looked well made. I recommend seeing before you buy as they do vary in quality.

I got mine from a place in Manchester (or Salford?) called the Industrial Door Company. They don't have a fancy, huge showroom, but you can go and look at what they offer. We are outside the area so they deliver too. They were significantly cheaper than other quotes we got, but our various builders have all commented on the quality. The integrated blinds are fantastic. They cost £200 per door and come in loads of colours. We have anthracite doors and grey/silver blinds and they look good, but there are loads of options. The doors come in any RAL colour too I believe. I'm so grateful that my neighbour told me to get them as they're just fab!

Thanks for that, I must say the condensation is getting a bit less but we are still a bit worried. Sunfold who fitted them says there is no problem! we will wait and see also we did not have a vast expanse of new plaster or screed on the floor. At the moment it is mild but when the cold weather comes it will be interesting to see.

Are you opening them during the day or running a dehumidifier (to let the moisture escape)?

Its definitely not mild here, its freezing, and no condensation!

Hi we are running a dehumidifier during the day getting about 1 and half pints out every 6 hours. At night we have a wood burner. We live in hope! Thanks for that.

Puffed - I know where they are, off Eccles New Road in Salford, and that's great info. Can you post a photo of your doors please?
