Kitchen/Diner advice

Hi, I have just brought a house, have a galley style kitchen and was thinking of having a kitchen diner.

Anyone have any idea how much this would cost?

This will involve getting a new kitchen and knocking through the wall between the kitchen and dining room, which will prob involve having an RSJ. Don't really need or want really expensive kitchen range, so something mid range will suffice.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

We just did this, nothing like £40k (in London!).

We spent
£3000 on knock through and plastering
£2500 french door, bricking up patio door, fitting new window
£7500 on kitchen (howdens) and appliances including induction rangemaster
£3500 on fitting, electrics and new (very nice) laminate flooring

About £17k. It's fantastic! Husband did painting himself.

Whoops, I thought you meant an extension... half concentrating while attempting to convince toddler to sleep!

I have just received a quote for £25k (I'm in London). Does anyone else think that's ridiculous I only want a basic kitchen and nothing overly fancy.

Could anyone please share their wisdom with me - any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I would suggest geting several quotes for the building work and if you only want a basic kitchen - arrange that yourself from Wickes or B&Q or Ikea
