Feeling so fed up and down with trying to buy family home. Put letters through doors and got almost to point of exchange with first house, then sellers circumstances changed and they couldn't move. A few months later offer accepted on a chain free house that on surface looked great. Then survey/builders uncovered so many issues it became too risky so back to square one. £2000+ down drain. Very little on market in price range that isn't in wrong location, main road or project! Fed up of bring in limbo. Anyone give me hope that I will one day actually buy a house?!

what's your area and price range?

move out a little further? more commute time, but it becomes more realistic then.

the obvious issue here is that budget is too low for the area, to put it bluntly. Been there myself!

The same thing happened to me; two offers accepted that didn't work out because both times surveys revealed massive issues. I'm very happy to say that I've just completed on a house! Hold in there. Third time lucky and all that!

Not London in South Manchester outer suburbs! Just so few properties £400-600 which ought to be a decent budget. Plenty lower or higher. Think the agents hate me as I've been looking for so long! But saying that a lot of the houses we've not gone for haven't sold to anyone else!

Perhaps you might need to consider a house on a main road or that needs some work doing to get what you want? Or do you need to look further afield where there might be more properties in the style you want?

I got really disheartened as well Bella but have ended up with exactly what I wanted. I think the key is to be really friendly with the agents and keep reiterating how keen you are, that the money is waiting in the bank, you can move v quickly etc. Just keep calling the agents up to check whats coming on etc.

been here too. We rented in a house I hated for 5 years while trying to buy a family home. It was soul-destroying. 2 years ago we moved 8 miles out of our preferred location and now have a house we love. Had 3 failed purchases for the same price in the original location (poky, overpriced, needed a lot of work). Hang in there and look at changing location slightly.

Thanks! I might do some more letters, now more confidence in the market. Also looking at planning applications in roads I like to see if anything being developed!
