I'm clueless about curtains!

I've ordered this double curtain pole because I'd like to hang my voile panels (I know, voile Shock, but they're very simple, and we need a little bit of privacy from passers by).

But I don't know what type of curtain would hang on the provided rings of the other pole. And do curtains come in standard lengths? Presumably I need to know this before I put up the new curtain pole... Any suggestions of good curtain retailers?

Please help, at the moment we have blinds-in-a-box Smile.

You can hang pencil pleated curtains from the rings using the header tape on the curtains and purchasing plastic hooks. Alternatively you could remove the rings and add tab tops or curtains with ring tops directly onto the pole.

Curtains do come in standard lengths such as 54, 66, 90 inches so if you put the pole up considerate of the curtain length it may save you having to take them up. But it depends how long you like your curtains to be ie on the windowsill, just below the windowsill, floor length etc. You may have to consider a radiator below the window as they are not very effective if hidden behind the curtains. Made to measure curtains are available at varying cost from high street ie dunelm to bespoke suppliers.

Thanks 2plus1, I think the length I need is right between the standard lengths, so I'll either need to get standard ones altered, or made to measure ones.

The negative is that there is a heater under the window, but I really want floor length curtains. Particularly as I'm having voile too. Hmm. I've read about people tucking their curtains down the back of the heater in the evening, is that even possible?

Possible, but a fire hazard I'd say!

Could you afford short for winter and long for summer?

Jean Grin, well, yes, but I'd feel silly.

Actually, the long voile would make it look silly.

I could turn the heater off, and use the wb stove thing instead.
