We didn't escape it after all - roof is leaking.

Thought we had escaped the winds without damage, but just noticed a wet patch at the top of the wall and the window in the roof has half blown off. Have managed to do a very quick botch repair with some shower curtain and duck tape to stop the water coming in for now.

Aaaargh. Does anyone have one of these windows? It's pretty small (maybe 12 inches by 18 inches) and had been covered with a kind of corregated plastic. Do you think I'll need someone to to up on the roof to replace it or will it be able to be done from inside the attic? If they have to go up on the roof am guessing that will mean scaffolding and £££. We're in SE London. Sorry if this is a bit rambling, but in a mild panic!!

you can call the aa home team for recommendations as well.

Speak to your insurance company.

Our roof started leaking a couple of weeks ago, we got our local builder in to look, he said call insurer. Ours have asked for a quote and cause of leak.

Brilliant. Have called the insurers, they're passing it to some company to come and assess it; we can expect to have a call from them on FRIDAY to make an appointment to come and inspect it. There's a huge frigging hole in the roof, people.
