Flooded kitchen

Have just woken up and our kitchen is flooded. Am desperately trying not to cry.

The boiler has been leaking a bit the last couple of weeks, just at one of the on/off turning things on a pipe one of the many connections I don't know what it does.. But we just put a glass under it and hoped for the best. I don't ACTUALLY know if this is the cause for the flood, DH says the pipes next to the boiler looked wet.

We bought this Edwardian terraced mess a year and a half ago and have had it re-wired and re-plumbed (first person to work on pipes left job halfway through but we've had 2 professionals finish and check it since) and have had boiler man out a couple of times for maintenance / various fixing of it but he seemed to think it WASNT knackered.

Their office isn't open yet, so DH is frantically mopping, til he goes to work in half an hour and I take over (I work from home) also I'm 20wks pregnant so can't move fridge or furniture if they need to rip up the Lino (concrete, presumably drenched floor underneath).

So basically... Fuck. Help?! confused

They handle any type of plumbing jobs, and they will help you handle the water damage restoration. Good luck with that and keep us posted about how are things going. Fingers crossed. smile

Have youbgotbhome insurance . Get on the phone to them quickly they will be able to get someone out - has water stopped leaking now. ?

It would be likely you will need to have floor dried out etc and tweeds specialists but if you are going to claim onhomeinsurnce do that first !

Amber do you work for this company? This seems awfully like advertising at the expense of someone's troubles

Thanks Kingfisher. I'm really ashamed to say we have buildings insurance but not contents... Which would this come under?

Amber I'm in Southend on Sea so not sure the London one would be best

Oh and we've turned the water off at mains for now

I just wanted to help. It is not an advertisement. I'm sorry if it sounds like that. The first thing I would do when there is a leak in my house is to call a handyman. confused

bebopanddoowop, London company won't help in this case. It is good to hear you've managed to turn the water off.

Thanks, trying to get hold of these people we've used before. I think (hope) their office opens at 8. DH just gone to work.. I'm secretly hoping his boss sends him back home to help!
