Anyone got a bioethanol fire?

And are they any good? And do they smell of petrol?

We have a blank wall in a new house. We don't need a fire for heat but need something to give the room character/ focus. Seems a faff (and a cost) to run a gas supply through into the room or put a flue system out through the wall, in our old house we hardly ever had the fire on. And i don't like electric fires. So this looks like a cheaper alternative, in a traditional fireplace.

TIA

My friend has a mini one in her flat and that doesn't smell? I haven't seen a big one in real life though.

I have incorporated one into my open Victorian fireplace with the artificial logs. I love it. Have ordered the fuel in bulk. One bottle seems to last about 2½ hours. There is a slight odour when you initially light it but it's not offensive at all. It's a clean burning fuel, so no smoke or fumes.
