Solid Oak Dark Wood Floor help!

My hall is quite dark and long and has a solid oak dark wood floor in it. I want to lighten/brighten it but DH says it would be a huge job to take it up.

Do you think two ameaturs could hire an industrial sander and take the dark colour stain off and re stain it a paler colour?

Any other suggestions?

Have you got any local flooring companies? My neighbour got a local firm to come in and redo her wooden flooring, they sanded and finished it, looked lovely.

Oh that's interesting. Didn't know there were companies that did it. Will investigate.

Dark oak flooring was very popular where we live. Not so trendy any more. I have seen lots of home sanded and stained floors. Few of them look good. Even with an industrial sander the edges are hard to get good. Dust is a nightmare. This is one of the few jobs I would get a pro in to do.
