Cost of knocking bathroom/toilet into one and redoing everything

Hi all

Waiting to complete on our new home. The big bit of work that needs doing is that it has a separate bathroom (sink, bath) and toilet - it's a classic 30s semi.

As we have a loo downstairs, and it's only the two of us, we are keen to knock through to have a larger space and squeeze in a separate shower (mum in law who visits often had stroke and can't climb into a bath to shower, but i want a bath).

Any idea what this might cost? Will be knocking through, totally new suite (wc, sink, bath, shower) and complete redecoration.

And we're in Surrey.

Thanks all

Based on my recent works £2.5k ish for ripping out and replumbing and refitting, 500 for plastering and decorating, 3-400 for electrics, 600 for tiling, plus taps, suite, tiles, shower etc. Also SE.

Thanks nemno- that's really helpful. So difficult to have any idea. Now we just have to find a good builder/plumber

Forgot to ask if the dividing wall is a supporting wall, in which case it will be more. And just remembered waste disposal cost 200, a skip would have been more.

If you have a company in to do everything budget from £9k upwards, it could be less or more - depending on the sort of fixtures & fittings. It is easy to spend £15-£20,000 on lovely bathroom
but that is beyond most people's budgets.

Another omission, I didn't need to block up a door.

We've been quoted £15k to do this - the company did say that getting a bathroom fitter to knock out the wall wasn't the best plan and it'd be cheaper to get a builder in for that.

About 5-6 k depending on what fittings you choose

noddy - I know you're a bit of an expert at this! - is that with you project managing it yourself, and bringing in a separate plumber/builder/tiler/electrician?

Yes I have just done this but bought all the fittings online so did it all for about 3-4 k and decorated it myself

Ours was about 6K, but 7-8 years ago now. An all-in-one company knocked through, shifted loft hatch to the landing, did electrics, tiling, flooring, decorating, replaced radiator, put in new suite. Well worth it.

We had ours done earlier this year. Knocked down the wall between the bathroom and loo to create a decent sized bathroom.
It cost £10k including removing the wall, blocking up the extra doorway, plastering, tiling, painting and the new (huge) bath, loo and basin. We also had a new water cylinder put into the loft and a shelving unit built at the end of the bath for storage.
It is bloody lovely, but compared to the pink double shower, pink loo, pink carpet and pink walls it would be!
